Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between 100% wildflower mixes and standard wildflower mixes?
100% wildflower mixes contain only wildflower seeds, with no grasses or fillers added. Many “wildflower” mixes on the market are bulked out with grass, but our mixes are pure flowers, which gives you better coverage, more nectar for pollinators, and full flexibility to add grass if you want it.
When is the best time to sow 100% wildflower seeds?
The ideal times to sow wildflower seeds are spring (March–May) and autumn (August–October). These seasons provide the right soil conditions and temperatures for germination, giving your flowers the best chance to thrive.
Do I need to prepare the ground before sowing wildflower mixes?
Yes! Preparing the ground properly makes a big difference. Clear away existing weeds or grass, rake the soil to create a fine tilth, and avoid adding fertiliser. Wildflowers prefer nutrient-poor soil, and a weed-free start will help your mix establish successfully.
How long will it take for wildflowers to bloom after sowing?
Annual wildflowers usually flower within 8–10 weeks of sowing, giving you a burst of colour in the first season. Perennials may take longer to establish, but they’ll return year after year, creating a lasting display.
